Its purpose is to provide periodic (functional during time of day when most needed) indoor entertainment, without compromising on the existing space within the household in any way. The table is made from a combination of the finest solid and veneered American Black Walnut or American White Oak, combined with pure stainless steel components. About 100% Design
4) Why did you choose to exhibit at 100% Design?:
For us 100% Design is an obvious choice, being the largest and longest-running design trade event for industry professionals in the UK. It provides us with a platform to demonstrate to Architects, Interior Designers and the rest of the Industry, just what we are capable of doing and introducing to them new and innovative ways of thinking and solving the vast array of space related issues and challenges that are present today. We are confident that they will be excited by our innovative approach to design.
About the industry
5) A recent ‘Dezeen’ Article has highlighted the fact that the vast majority of designers are under 40 - Do you feel that design lacks maturity?:
Absolutely not, if anything design has become stale and stagnant in the interior design world. While the rest of the world moves forward and living styles change, interior design solutions remain the same as they were 100 years ago. There just isn’t enough investment going into innovation and problem solving from an interior perspective. While car design, product design and technology continue to excel, unfortunately interior design lacks innovation.
6) In contemporary society an online presence is key in order to grow your design firm – How do you utilize the internet to increase your customer base?:
Tirmizi Multifunctional Design is aware of this and invests time and effort in making sure that our customer base has access to our online product catalogue and all social media outlets that are available and trending today. We have a marketing team that is dedicated to keeping our online presence up to date and our brand constantly growing.
About the Individual
7) What made you want to become a designer?
Ever since I can remember I have been a designer and innovator. I have always had an eye for design, detail and construction and ways of expressing this very well on paper. I have constantly looked to shape the world for the better, often questioning and criticising design decisions made by my predecessors. As a child, I was always very interested in car design, product design and buildings. I naturally went on to study Architecture at the Kent University’s Institute of Art and Design in the UK. This is where I started to explore the ideas of living in confined spaces and started to experiment with the concepts of multi-functional design. My investigations led me to realise that many spaces within an environment are only useful temporarily, and are otherwise wasted. I theorised about ways of adapting spaces to suit the functional needs of the time, and the concept that ‘Space is finite. How we use that space is infinite.’
8) Establishing networks is important for an emerging design firm – How did you go about growing yours?:
Clever Branding, Marketing, Social Media, Exhibitions, but most importantly Great Design. We let our passion for design and innovation speak for itself.
