Every year 100% Design commissions a series of installations across the show floor, designed to push the boundaries of design, in terms of concepts, process and material capabilities.
Previous collaborations have included El Ultimo Grito, NBBJ Architects, Mette, Thomas.Matthews, Benjamin Hubert, Paul Cocksedge Studio, Aberrant Architecture, Material Lab and 3D print shop iMakr. 100% Design 2015 will feature even more exciting installations across four show sections, each exploring the central theme of colour. Mattergarden is an interactive installation that celebrates the Earth’s permanence, its generous supply of materials, its structure and sustenance. Developed from an original concept by British design studio Mette, the organic juice bar peeks out of a ‘rock formation’ upon which visitors can relax and become part of the structure. Read more
The concept for this year’s feature café is a contemporary take on an English tradition — a multi-sensory experience of taste, aroma and colour, celebrating a broad selection of tea. Conceived and designed by Daniel Rous - designer at Fabrica - the café incorporates a feature installation of hand-blown glass vessels, offering visitors a break from the bustle of the show to relax with a cup of freshly brewed tea. This year 100% Design has worked with textile artist and designer, Anne Kyyrö Quinn - a long time exhibitor and supporter of 100% Design, to design the main auditorium for Talks with 100% Design. The distinctive style of Anne Kyyrö Quinn's studio is the creation of textured wall coverings and artwork, all tailor made within her London studio. Read more
The overall show theme, Design in Colour resonates strongly in the Interiors section of 100% Design 2015. Within this section, the specially commissoned feature highlights the Spring/Summer 2016 colours identified by trend forecasters WGSN.By applying the key colours to a concept space dominated by a series of columns, the carefully selected pieces of furniture bring to life the look and feel of latest and future interiors. Working with the large open space at Olympia London, Studio Design UK has again partnered with leading contemporary crystal manufacturer Lasvit (right, Crystal Rock by Arik Levy) and UK materials company Camira Fabrics to create a suspended entrance feature that is set to inspire show visitors.
