Lumaglass’ Maiden Low Iron Venture a Monumental Success
Lumaglass’ Maiden Low Iron Venture a Monumental Success
Innovative, and award winning, illuminated architectural glazing firm completes first installation of new low iron product.
Ahead of its official launch at the 2011 Be 100% Design Exhibition, Lumaglass’ new aesthetic finish using low iron profiled glass, proves itself in its impressive first application. Architectural practice The Architects Design Group specified the new product for their own newly refurbished, high quality business centre in the heart of Plymouth – Studio 5-11. The development provides a base for their practice as well as offering rental space to other business users.
The objective was to create a partition between the reception area and conference room. It was essential that the material used in forming the partition had the capabilities both to follow the organic curved shape which was a key design feature, while meeting sound insulation and privacy requirements. Senior Architect, Dale Beeson recognised Lumaglass™ to be the perfect choice.
Lumaglass’ flexible design and installation process allowed the creation of an organic shape in keeping with the architect’s vision. Its soft flowing curves lend the installation a naturally formed appearance unrestricted by regimental lines and sharp, garish angles while the white electroluminescent light coupled with low iron U-profiled glass creates a clean ethereal effect. This striking Lumaglass™ feature wall provides a high impact, functional focal point while it’s highly environmentally friendly light source satisfies The Architects Design Group’s commitment to environmental responsibilities, a cause very important to them as a practice.
“ADG moved into their newly refurbished Plymouth offices , Studio 5-11, earlier this year. As we were designing our own space, and had a blank canvas to work from, we wanted to create a real 'wow factor' to the reception and conference room areas whilst providing borrowed light through to the circulation zone. The Lumaglass system was the only economic and robust solution for creating the curved, illuminated glass wall that we envisaged. The full height, sandblasted, low iron glass channels with white light create a screen with sophisticated drama when viewed from either side and i's double glazed arrangement provides a good degree of acoustic separation for conference room meetings. In addition, as a company we are very focused on energy use and sustainability, the very low energy use of the electroluminescent lighting supports our company aspirations.” – Dale Beeson, Senior Architectural Designer – The Architects Design Group
The new pioneering division of well-established company, Westcrowns Contracting Services Ltd, will be showcasing this as well as other newly-launched products at the Be 100% Design Exhibition 2011 held at Earls Court from the 22nd to 25th of September, Stand B119.
