Decipher Inspired By Nature Evolved Through Technology
The unique geography and landscape features of the Lake District National Park are the driving force and inspiration behind Elter, the contemporary furniture range designed by Michael Thomas of Decipher.
Elter embodies the organic forms, textures and beauty in a way which mimics the ever changing light and moods of the area. As in the natural environment the perspective within the products change when viewed from different angles, revealing a series of striking lines, intersecting surfaces and the natural voids which are so characteristic of the traditional dry stone walls found throughout the Lake District.
The company debuted at 100% Design London 2010 to critical acclaim and returns to this year’s event to showcase the evolution of the Elter range. This has been achieved with the innovative use of new manufacturing and finishing processes and the use of steel and stainless steel, bringing the products to life with a distinctive tactile experience.
The apparent seamless construction of each hand-finished piece is a testament to Michael’s reputation for innovative product design, gained from many years of experience within the industrial and consumer markets. Although wholly inspired and influenced by the natural environment, Decipher’s latest designs make use of CNC bending technology to generate the shape-shifting appearance of the finished item.
With new products to be released ahead of this year’s show, the Elter furniture range looks set to make its mark on the interior design landscape.
