The idea for this design came from folding socks into each other: as the fabric folds in on itself. We developed this idea by conjoining shapes as if they were socks stitched together, and produced the sock chair-bed.
The conjoined 'skins' of the bed and couch have the same volume as each other, but with only enough filling for one function at a time. The filling simply flows from one cotton 'skin' to the other to plump out each form and the spare 'skin' is pushed inside the other when not in use. Infant size price £140 |

FINIBOND is a unique laminated material which has
proved highly suitable for applications in interior
fittings, trade fair construction and the furniture
industry due to its combination of design and functional
efficiency.
The product consists of a PVB (Polyvinyl butyral) foil
sandwiched between a float glass pane and an HPL
(High Pressure Laminate) pane. The PVB safety foil
ensures that, should the glass break, the shards will
remain connected to the laminate.
The float glass used can be of differing thicknesses and
colours. The minimum thickness for this glass is 4 mm.
Single-pane tempered safety glass can also be used for
applications placed under high mechanical and thermal strains. |

the “angled supporting arm” stands for strength and solidity; a fitting without compromise. formally reduced to a minimum. the intelligent minimization extends to the striking, solid supporting rail that appears to be freely suspended. fastening elements are just as invisible as the auxiliary elements: door stoppers and glass panel retainers. both functions are integrated in the supporting rail and hidden from view. the newly developed running gear with transparent rollers is the visual attraction. the polyamide material not only lends the rollers the appearance of glass, but is also characterized by solidity and durability.

modern interior design increasingly demands the flexible use of space. as b.1000 is invisible at first glance, rooms take on exceptional clarity and simplicity. glass panels without frames, glass panels without fittings silently glide across the room with no apparent effort. astec b.1000 functions “underfloor”: it takes a second, closer look to recognize the roller guide track. the small rollers over which the glass panels glide are barely visible. they are protected and cushioned by a U-profile edge guard that is firmly fixed to the glass. the weight is taken by the floor.
