A=R is a young product design firm that is primarily interested in compact, lightweight structures, material manipulation with low environmental impact to produce playful, future orientated products. So far, the firm has found it necessary to concentrate on client work: this has brought us a great client list and a good collection of physically larger and varied work, but an intermittent output of our own product work. We are now developing our own products with rolling furniture and accessories output, hence our application to 100% Futures.

Stand Description A simple stand design to allow easy comprehension of products in the context of a living room interior. And allow us to show the rapid transition of the Pair o Socks Sofa and Bed.

Name Pair o Socks Sofa and Bed Price and general information The idea for this design came from folding socks into each other: as the fabric folds in on itself. We developed this idea by conjoining shapes as if they were socks stitched together, and produced the sock chair-bed. The conjoined 'skins' of the bed and couch have the same volume as each other, but with only enough filling for one function at a time. The filling simply flows from one cotton 'skin' to the other to plump out each form and the spare 'skin' is pushed inside the other when not in use. Infant size price £140
