Starlights: Shining inspirations by British Lighting Designers19-Sep-2017
BEDG's group lighting exhibition 'Starlights: Shining inspirations by British Lighting Designers' brings together seven UK designers to exhibit a selection of their current range to showcase British Design. Here is just some of what you can expect to see:
The 'Ex-Libris' light is based on a concept of using an object of everyday use and turning it into a lighting fixture. It is a simple yet stylish pendant lamp with a book as its main feature. By creating these book lamps the designer explicitly depicts the metaphor of knowledge enlightening the mind.
Hand & Eye Studio
Hand & Eye Studio will be launching the new ‘Fuji’ pendant light which adds to the current range of ceramic lighting. The Fuji combines the traditional ceramic shade with a modern translucent silicone top to hold the light fitting and emit a subtle warm glow. The ‘Fuji’ comes in two ceramic finishes: a raw terracotta with white glazed inside or a porcelain with with a lovely matte textured finish in a range of subtle, modern colours.
Matt Pugh returns to 100% Design to launch a bold collection of lighting. ‘GEO’ is the fruit of an exciting collaboration with designer Warwick Borsay. Elemental, mature and captivatingly elegant, this brand new collection features statement lamps individually hand cast from a marble composite. Finished in Copper leaf, gold leaf or au naturel, the interior of the light is as much the focal point as the exterior and emits a beguiling luminosity.
Emerald Faerie are creating installation room dividers (light Boxes) that will house the Elixir branch and a cluster of chandeliers from the Birds of Paradise collection. Their 'Birds of Paradise' collection utilises the traditional techniques and finishes of lost wax bronze casting.
